Javier has 30 years of experience in foreign trade and international financial operations, mainly in promoting, developing and financing international projects related to infrastructures in emerging and developing countries (Africa, South and Central America, Middle East, Asia and Eastern Europe). He has worked primarily for governments and state entities. Javier has been General Managing Partner in Ibadesa and Board Member in diverse companies of the group, as well as international external consultant. Javier holds a Degree in Economic Sciences (CEU- Complutense University of Madrid) and an MBA (PDD) from IESE Business School. He has also served as a professor of Export Finance in ICADE (Comillas University), Madrid.

With more than 28 years of experience in business development in emerging markets and corporate finance, he is the leading manager of the Quantum Group.
His activities focus on the development of opportunities and strategic alliances in the countries where the Group operates.
He started his career in the Internal Audit Department of Banque Nationale de Paris (today BNP-Paribas) in New York and in the Corporate Finance Department of Salomon Brothers Inc (today Citigroup). As a Founding Partner of H-Oil Group, where he served as Chief Executive Officer, he started his activities in Africa within sectors related to oil and derivatives trading, exploration and production of mining and hydrocarbons concessions, and infrastructures.
In 2009 he founded Quantum Group, where he serves as President, and in 2014 he was one of the Founding Partners of BDK Financial Group, a pan-African banking group where he served as Counselor and Member of the Remuneration Committees and Regulatory Compliance & Internal Control Committees. He cooperates actively with the NGO Amref Health Africa (Princess of Asturias Awards for International Cooperation 2018), in which he was a Board Member.
Álvaro holds a degree in Business Management from Boston University.
